This course provides a solid background in the fundamental principles of chemistry for science majors and assumes a working knowledge of high school algebra and chemistry. Subject areas include atomic and molecular structure, solutions, gases, acids and bases, oxidation-reduction reactions, reaction rates, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, and equilibria. Corequisite: This course must be taken concurrently with CHM 1180 General Chemistry II Laboratory. Prerequisite: CHM 1160 General Chemistry I with a grade of C- or better, or permission of instructor.General Education:Natural Science
