Through this course, students are challenged to develop their practice and understanding of the craft offiction, improve their critical skills in the reading of fiction by others, and gain increased depth andflexibility in their writing of narrative. This course concentrates on conventions, techniques, terminology,concepts, critiques, and theories within contemporary fiction. Students write and revise stories in a varietyof forms and engage in substantial critical reading of published works. Students will focus on closereading and craft analysis through the work of annotations and may complete a portfolio presenting theevolution and accomplishment of their work over the semester. This course?s specific topics within fictionvary, and the course may be repeated one time for credit. No prerequisite. WAC 2: Writing and Researchin the Liberal Arts & Artistic Expression
