This course combines creative exploration of animation techniques with playful experimentation in time-based media. Students expand their unique artistic voices and explore the radical potential of artisanal animation to interrupt the dominant hierarchy of the media industry by watching, discussing, and making short videos using a wide range of animation styles, from stop motion and silhouette, to rotoscope and direct 16mm film animation.
