This course is both an ensemble and a tunewriting workshop, in which each student writes one tune per week. Students give supportive feedback on each other's tunes, and collaborate together in performing their original tunes in a concert. The expectation is not that students write a "masterpiece" each week; rather the goal is to finish something, however basic or derivative. In this way, students gain experience in the technique and practice of composition. This course is open to students working within all genres of music.
