This course will explore the wide variety of theories and studies that have helped us to better understand conscious thought and action as well as nonconscious regulation of behavior. Specifically, we'll focus on research into the neural mechanisms of thirst and hunger, emotion, attention, learning and memory, language, and decision-making. Students will participate in a number of lab exercises and demonstrations used to investigate course concepts. Students will also engage with primary sources to examine the purpose, methods, and implications of research into the biology that underlies the human experience.Prerequisites: PSY 3100 Biopsychology, PSY 3240 Sensation and Perception, or permission of instructor.
