This course offers an analysis and philosophical evaluation of problems in art appreciation, art criticism and theories of art. Special emphasis is placed on understanding art in the context of concurrent artistic endeavor or experience. This course fulfills the "Diverse Perspectives Requirement" within the Philosophy Program. A substantial part of its content includes diverse perspectives in terms of gender, race, ethnicity, and/or sexual orientation.
