This course provides an overview of the fundamentals of rock climbing - personal equipment, appropriate knots, belaying, safety checks and effective communication. During one weekend field trip, students explore these topics while climbing in a natural outdoor climbing venue (weather permitting). This course also provides instruction on climbing ethics, environmental stewardship and risk management. Course Fee. Students evaluated on a pass/fail basis based on active participation.
