Recreational puzzles date back to at least 1600 BCE. They were used to teach arithmetic, algebra, and general problem-solving skills. Through collaborative work, creative exploration, and problem solving, students will hone their critical thinking, problem solving, and algebra skills. As Community Engagement students will design enhancement activities and share them with a local middle school class. This course is designed to increase students’ confidence in their mathematical and problem-solving skills and help students to see that math is an achievable, creative, fun endeavor.
