Through a hands-on project that students in the course design and implement, students learn about and develop an understanding of the principles and practices of planning, organizing, leading, and measuring success within an organization. Topics include organizational design, decision-making, managerial communication, and strategic management. Students learn about the environment managers operate in, develop an understanding of the triple bottom line, and gain an understanding of the different management functions and some of the tools managers use. By understanding why and how managers do what they do, students are better equipped to be successful in an organization as well as decide whether they are interested in a career in management.
