This course provides a solid background in the fundamental principles of chemistry for science majors and builds on materials and concepts introduced in CHM 1160 General Chemistry I with Lab. Subject areas include atomic and molecular structure, solutions, gasses, acids and bases, buffers, oxidation-reduction reactions, reaction rates, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, and complex equilibria. This course includes an integrated laboratory that complements and reinforces the classroom portion. Course Fee. Prerequisite: CHM 1160 General Chemistry I with Lab with a grade of C- or better, or permission of instructor based on score on a placement test.
