This course focuses on social work theory and methods relevant for practice with macro systems. Students will think critically about the contexts in which macro practice occurs (e.g. communities and organizations) as well as the components of an effective change process (e.g. building power, planning, mobilizing human resources, securing financial resources, marketing and public relations, developing organizations, taking action, and evaluating change.) By synthesizing theory with the skills and techniques that support justice-oriented systems change, students will contribute to the course community partners (Veterans Treatment Court and VTC Foundation) on a variety of projects. Special attention will be given to anti-racist action and the influence of white supremacy within the context of generalist social work practice. Prerequisite: SWK 3350 Micro Praxis
